Cancer has been known in the past and Ayurveda practitioners were successful in curing cancer. According to Ayurvedic classics, during the 7th century BCE, Dhanvantari and ancient healers used herbal medicines to treat the early stages of cancer, and surgery was performed in the advanced stages.

Cancer is one of the most dreaded diseases of the 21st century. About one in five people will develop some form of malignant cancer at some point in their life. Lung cancer is the most common form of cancer, followed by colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.

Every day, malignant cells form and spread in every person. In a healthy person, these cells are destroyed by the body’s immune system, but for people with cancer, the body’s ability to deal with these cells fails. The malignant cell then begins to multiply out of control or invade other tissues, making the disease “cancer.”

Surgical treatment is followed when herbal medicine fails or is in advanced stages. Initially, a compress and cleansing were done, then external application of hot herbs was done to liquefy the contents of the swelling. This was followed by surgery to open the malignant tumor, remove the contents and clean it from the root. Care is also taken to avoid re-occurrence.
